David Moyes has insisted West Ham have had 'no contact' from Chelsea or Manchester United regarding a move for Declan Rice.

Rice is having an impressive season for the Hammers and has started all of their 18 Premier League fixtures.

The England international has been strongly linked with a £70million move away from the London Stadium with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side reportedly prepared to rival his former side Chelsea.

The midfielder was released by Chelsea as a 14-year-old but has continued to be linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge.

When asked about the transfer rumours, Moyes insisted neither club have made an approach for the 22-year-old.

'They're not true, we've had no contact from either of those clubs regarding Declan and we wouldn't want any anyway,' Moyes told Amazon Prime after his side's 1-0 victory over Burnley.

'He's doing great for us, he's a big leader now, he's taken a lot of the weight off Mark Noble.

'He's turning out to be a really good player but also a really good boy and good around the club.'

Moyes admitted his search for a new signing is proving difficult due to the players available but said he remains hopeful he can bring someone in before the transfer deadline.

'I'd like some pace and someone who can run in behind because Michail (Antonio) does that and if we don't have him through injury or we need to rest him we would like that type,' he added.

'That would be something we would want if we could. The truth is there isn't a big window of players available at this moment in time and Covid has had an impact on clubs and transfers.'

The Hammers moved up to eighth with their win over Burnley but Chelsea and Southampton could go above them if they win their fixtures against Fulham and Leicester.
