Aston Villa may have to move quickly if they want to bring Mogan Sanson to the club.

Dean Smith is claimed to have been tracking the 26-year-old for several months - having first been linked in the summer transfer window.

Indeed the Marseile midfielder has been connected with a move to the Premier League for the last few windows with, Arsenal and Wolves also credited with an interest.

And West Ham have been extensively linked with The Sun now claiming they are interested in doing a player swap deal for Sanson.

The former France Under 21 has 18 months left on his contract and Marseille, who are managed by former Chlesea and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas are refusing to rule out a move.

The report says the Hammers could tempt the Ligue 1 outfit with a deal that would see Manuel Lanzini go the other way.

They reckon the Argentine is still valued at around £15m despite being a bit-part player of late.

Sanson - who has scored 25 goals and produced 22 assists in his 156 appearances for Marseille since joining the club from Montpellier four years ago - is as close to the exit door as he’s ever been.

He featured for a little over an hour as Marseille were stunned by Nimes in a 2-1 home defeat on Saturday, and afterwards Villas-Boas reasoned that there is a chance that Sanson could depart before the window closes, though he confirmed that as of now no bids had been submitted by any interested parties.

“We’ll see. The transfer window is open, Sanson is a player who is highly rated,” Villas-Boas said, fielding questions on Sanson’s future in his post-match press conference. “Officially, we have not received any offers, unless it happened during the match.

“He is a boy who interests English teams because of his characteristics, and it is possible that something could happen.”

The Sun also claim Newcastle would like to make a move for him but not until the summer.
