NOIDA: Roads, drains, green belts, central verge… the 7x sectors in the city are set to get a facelift over the next few months. The Noida Authority has set aside a budget of Rs 32 crore for development of various amenities and infrastructure in these sectors.
On Sunday, project work worth Rs 11 crore was initiated in areas dominated by several highrises. Officials said the remaining Rs 21 crore would be spent on other development work by March 31.

Rajeev Tyagi, chief general manager of the Authority, said the decision to repair roads and drains was taken following repeated requests from residents.
“Even before this, a lot of work has been done in the 7x sectors over the past six months. During this fiscal, we will end up spending Rs 150 crore towards development of residential blocks that fall on the south side of Vikas Marg,” said Tyagi.
The cost of two other key infrastructure projects — the underpass at the intersection of sectors 51 and 71 and the Parthala Chowk flyover — has been included in the Rs 150 crore budget. Officials said the idea was to improve connectivity and accessibility of the 7x sectors and sectors 115, 116, 117 and 122 with other parts of the city.
Asked about details of projects in the pipeline, Tyagi said service lanes would be developed across the 45-metre main carriageway that links sectors 74 and 117. Another service lane is being constructed between sectors 77 and 116, he added.

A green belt in Sector 77, a boundary around a park in Sector 78, repair of footpaths, roads and central verge are some of the common work in all the 7x sectors that would be commissioned for Rs 11 crore. The remaining funds of Rs 21 crore would be utilised for building community centres and commercial complexes. While one community centre has been planned in Sector 73, a commercial complex is set to come up in Sector 72.
Afsana Siddiqui, a resident of Kakrala, said she would be happy if some of the funds were spent on repairing potholes in villages.
Earlier, the authority had claimed that it has connected the sewage collection pipelines with the main line or master pipeline. Now, sewage of above mentioned residential pockets and others would be supplied to a sewage treatment plant for treatment before release into the Yamuna River.
