Man arrested with drugs worth Rs 2.6 lakh in Thane

The Mumbra police arrested an alleged drug pusher for possessing 105 grams Mephedrone (MD) drug powder worth Rs 2.6 lakh from the Thakurpada area of the Mumbra.

THANE: The Mumbra police arrested an alleged drug pusher for possession of 105 grams Mephedrone (MD) powder worth Rs 2.6 lakh from Thakurpada area of Thane.
The police said that the accused Sameer Jetha Khatri (35), is unemployed presently lives in Mumbra.
The police said that they have formed special anti-narcotics team who got a tip-off that the accused was in possession of the drug behind Roshini Mahal building.
Hence, a team of police officers as well as a few constables trapped the accused later on Thursday and seized 105 grams of crystal MD powder. The seizure was worth Rs 2.6 lakh, the police said.
The police said that they have identified two other accused who are absconding.
During the initial interrogation, the police found that the accused had procured the MD powder from the two persons who are yet to be arrested. “This could be a big chain and after the other accused are arrested the entire chain or the people linked with the syndicate will become clear,” said a police officer.
An offence under sections 8(C) and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, said a police officer.
