NOIDA: The body of a woman believed to be in her mid-30s was found on a green belt near Millennium School in Ecotech III late on Sunday. Police have started a murder probe based on the autopsy report, though the woman is yet to be identified.
Police said the woman was possibly hit on the neck with a blunt object. The nature of the injury also doesn’t rule out the possibility of the attacker jamming an elbow into her neck.
There were red marks on the face and neck and her tongue was pushed out of the mouth slightly when the body was found, police said.
DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander said the post-mortem had confirmed murder and the use of some kind of physical pressure to kill her and an FIR under Section 302 of the IPC would be registered. An empty plastic bottle was found near the body. Chander said police were trying to identify the woman. “Identification is important and can help investigate the reason for the crime,” he said.
Police have been investigating several such cases in the central and Greater Noida areas. Last November, the body of a woman was found in a waterbody in Kasna. Police suspected murder but the woman could not be identified.
In another incident, the body of a woman in her 60s was found in a train car parked at a locomotive workshop in Bisrakh. Four months ago, the body of a young woman was found in the Surajpur wetlands. And before that, in Omicron II, a woman’s body was found on a road, lying in a pool of blood. It was suspected to be an accident, but the woman could not be identified.
