Thane: Four held, minor detained for robbing IT consultant

The Kapurbawdi police arrested four persons and detained one minor who assaulted a 45-year-old IT consultant and robbed his phone as well as cash last week.

THANE: Kapurbawdi police arrested four persons and detained one minor for assaulting a 45-year-old IT consultant and robbing his phone as well as cash last week.
The police said that the accused are identified as Govind Chavan (20), Kartik Nirmal and detained their third accomplice who is a juvenile.
A police officer informed that the victim, is a native of Nagpur and presently resides at Runwal pearl complex.
On January 4, was walking on Kolshet road at around 11.30pm in Kapurbawdi area. He waited for an auto rickshaw but did not find any. The accused then came riding on a bike and hit the victim with an iron rod on his head and robbed him of his phone as well as cash collectively worth Rs 12,000.
The police have registered a case of under the sections 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. They started investigating when they were tipped-off that the accused involved in the crime were to visit a spot named as Amrai slum near Kapurbawdi area. Hence, the police laid a trap and nabbed the trio, said senior inspector, Kapurbawdi police station Anil Deshmukh.
The accused confessed that they were involved in the crime and the investigators recovered the stolen mobile phone as well as seized the bike that was used in the crime.
The police later tracked the other three accused—Avesh Shaikh (20), Imtiyaz Khan, Ashfaq Khan (32)— who helped in selling the stolen mobile phone.
