Udupi cumulatively vaccinates 53.6% of targeted vaccine beneficiaries
UDUPI: Health authorities in the district are hopeful of covering all 22103 health workers who have registered to receive the vaccine for Covid19 by January 31. The district has registered an achievement of 53.6% in the first four days of the vaccine up to January 19 with 610 out of 1139 beneficiaries receiving the vaccine with the highest achievement of 59% on Tuesday. The least was on Sunday with only 40% of the targeted beneficiaries getting vaccinated.
While 287 out of 539 beneficiaries received the vaccine on Saturday, 40 out of 100 registered health workers did so on Sunday, 48 out of 100 health workers on Monday and 235 out of 400 health workers did so on Tuesday.
The health authorities have received 12000 doses of Covishield vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India and are awaiting the next instalment, Dr Prashanth Bhat, district Covid19 nodal officer, said.
There have been no notable adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) reported so far, although minor anxiety related AEFI were noted during these sessions, Dr Bhat said. In all, health workers from 867 health institutions including 762 private medical institutions have come forward to administer the vaccine to 22103 of their health workers right from a group D worker to the doctors or senior most health functionaries working in that institution.
As part of micromanagement vaccination programme adopted on election mode, the vaccination will be held in 115 centres across Udupi including 74 government facilities. In all, 258 sessions have been planned and 154 of them will be in private health institutions. The health department has distributed AEFI kits to all places where the vaccination sessions will be held. '108' ambulance service has been kept in readiness to meet any emergency.
