CM Green Manipur Mission awareness programme held at Kamjong

Ukhrul, January 19 2021:
One-day awareness programme on Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission for the villages of Kamjong district was held at Zingsho Longphang Community Hall, Kamjong, today.
Addressing the programme, DFO Kamjong SW Suisa highlighted the main objectives of Green Manipur Mission and stated that Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched this ambitious scheme in 2019 to restore and regenerate forest areas of the State.
Suisa mentioned that through this scheme, forestry seedlings would be provided from the department while the villages are free to choose their desired plants or crops for plantation favourable to the climatic condition of their village.
During the awareness programme, the resource persons enlightened the villagers on the different aspects of agriculture that can be introduced in the region.
Resource person, Somishang Zimik spoke on 'Sustainable permaculture farming' while Ngaranpam Vashum Retired SR Horticulture Department educated the villagers on 'Integrated farming system in order to increase agricultural yield and improve the economy' .
MC Ngachonmi Retired RFO also gave a lecture on the topic 'Pursuit of ecological development'.
Village headmen, women leaders and village authorities from different villages of Kamjong district participated in the day-long awareness drive organized by the Kamjong Forest Division.
