When your kids cry or scream, the first thing you should do is calm down. Do not respond to their actions immediately. This might calm them.

Kids love to play and thus playing with them is the best way to deal with their tantrums. Trying new activities will also make them creative and keep them busy.

Ask your kids calmly about the options that can help them calm down. But make sure these options are other than what you have said NO to.

Singing to kids is a great trick to calm them down. You can play some music or sing to them when you see them feeling irritated.

Sometimes putting all the lights off is the most effective way to soothe them. If it's the day time, you can pull down the curtains. Newborns are used to the quiet, dark and confines of the womb.

Try a fan vacuum cleaner when your kids cry the next time. The theory says these sounds imitate what the infant heard in the womb as the mom's blood pressure passed through the placenta, which calms them down.

A short stroll with your kids can help your baby calm down. The fresh air can be of great help when you are cooped up in the house.
