Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal's star cricketer and first from his country in the IPL, has been released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2021 season. The talented spinner first became the part of the Delhi-based franchise in IPL 2018.

Also released from the team are experienced seamer Mohit Sharma, England's Jason Roy, Tushar Deshpande Alex Carey and Keemo paul. Australian wicketkeeper-batsman had played three matches for Delhi in IPL 2020 after Rishabh Pant got injured for a brief period.

"The players who have been retained by the franchise from their last season's Runners-Up finish include Indian internationals Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, along with Harshal Patel, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey and Avesh Khan. Delhi Capitals have also retained six overseas players which include last season's Purple Cap winner Kagiso Rabada, along with his South African pace partner Anrich Nortje, Australian all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams, West Indian batsman Shimron Hetmyer and English bowler Chris Woakes," the runner-up of the previous edition said in their official statement.
