Bengaluru: A week before release, Sasikala admitted to hospital

Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, convicted in a disproportionate assets case and serving a four-year term in Central Prison, Bengaluru, was shifted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College Hospital around 5.30 pm on Wednesday.

BENGALURU: Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, convicted in a disproportionate assets case and serving a four-year term in Central Prison, Bengaluru, was shifted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College Hospital around 5.30 pm on Wednesday.
Sasikala, who was to be released on January 27, was suffering from fever and breathlessness. At Bowring hospital, she was put in an isolation ward, given her Covid symptoms.
Her throat swab sample was found negative for Covid-19 in Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT). She has also undergone RTPCR test for Covid-19 detection and the report is awaited.
“She is being treated with high flow nasal oxygen. The necessary investigations including Covid tests are being done. The results are awaited,” said Dr Vijayalakshmi GN, medical superintendent of the hospital.
When she was brought to the hospital, her oxygen saturation level was 80% as against the normal 95% and above. "With oxygen support, she is maintaining the oxygen saturation level of 97 %" the doctor told TOI.
