Five arrested for selling turtles in Panchmahal

Vadodara: The forest department arrested five persons in Panchmahal for selling four turtles that are protected under schedule I of the Wildlife Conservation Act. A team of Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) had received information that prime accused Mausinh Baria was selling turtles following which he informed the forest department.
“We sent a decoy as customer and nabbed Baria red-handed during the deal,” said Rajesh Bhavsar of GSPCA, Vadodara.Apart from Mausinh, Govind Bareliya, Ranjit Baria, Pradeep Baria, Bharat Baria were also arrested. The forest officials also seized two swords and three other sharp weapons from the accused.
