WE BEGIN TONIGHT WITH CALIFORNIA NOW ONE MONTH INTO CORONAVIRUS VACCINES AND ITS BEEN REALLY SLOW WITH ABOUT A THIRD OF THE DOSES MAKING IT INTO PEOPLES ARMS. MORE THAN ONE-FIVE MILLION DOSES HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED STATEWIDE. THATS OUT OF THE MORE THAN FOUR POINT ONE MILLION DOSES THAT HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED. CALIFORNIA RANKS 44TH IN THE COUNTRY FOR VACCINE DISTRIBUTION. MANY COUNTIES HOPING A WINDFALL OF VACCINES WILL REACH THEM SO THEY CAN CONDUCT MAX VACCINATION CLINICS.. WHICH IN PART WOULD SERVE THOSE 65 AND OLDER.. ONE OF THOSE COUNTIES.. SAN BENITO COUNTY.. WHICH TODAY PUT OUT A CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP CARRY OUT A MAX VACCINATION. WE GET THE STORY FROM ACTION NEWS 8 REPORTER FELIX CORTEZ LIVE OUTSIDE HAZEL HAWKINS HOSPITAL IN HOLLISTER.. ### TODAY THE COUNTY PUTTING OUT THAT CALL FOR MEDICAL AND NON- MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO HELP CARRY OUT SUCH A LARGE EVENT.. BUT THE COUNTY ALSO NEEDS MORE VACCINE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.. (bob 12:32 the frustrating part is what's taking so long :35) it's a question many of you are asking.. why is it taking so long for the COVID vaccine to reach more of us.. (bob 11:49 I wanted it two months ago I mean the only way we going to get past this is if everybody gets vaccinated :57) county health leaders say it all comes down to availability.. and right now counties just not getting enough of the vaccine.. san benito county only expected to receive 400 doses.. this week.. (4:22 everybody that we can possibly vaccinate we want to get vaccinated :26) with that said san benito county still moving ahead with plans to hold a max vaccination clinic despite not having enough vaccine to carry one out.. wednesday they made a call for community volunteers to help carry out a max vax.. (2:27 we want to be prepared for is in the eventuality that we do have those numbers arrive here in our county that we can mobilize as quickly as we possibly can and have vaccination events for those folks in that tier :41) the county hopes to hold those when it gets to phase 1B of vaccinations.. which will include those 65 and older.. but date and place yet to be announced.. (bob 13:29 I don't know just be patient hopefully in next 30 to 60 days it starts trickling down to more people :35 and my age group :36 I don't know what else can we do :41) PATIENCE THE NAME OF THE GAME RIGHT NOW..
