Perth Glory face a daunting road trip after launching their A-League campaign with an impressive 5-3 win over Adelaide United.

They fly out for four away games in 13 days as the congested season caused by the delayed start begins to take its toll.

They play Western United in Geelong on Saturday followed Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City, both at AAMI Park, on Tuesday January 26 and Sunday 31 before heading to Adelaide on February 5 for the return clash with Adelaide.

They finally get to play at home on Saturday February 13 against Victory at HBF Park, closing three weeks with five games, with another home game against Melbourne City the following Saturday.

But coach Richard Garcia said the side is ready for the quick turnarounds after taking on a similar tough schedule in the Asian Champions League in Qatar.

“We’ve had a little bit of practise with ACL where the games game thick and fast but it’s going to be a difficult challenge,” Garcia said.

“The boys are really going to have to be at their best to recover and play, recover and play.

“We’re going to have to use everyone which is good for the squad.

“It’s a big challenge. It’s going to be like that all season.

“Coming off the back of a nice win will help confidence and help us go there with a good purpose.

“We’ve spoken about this among the group. All we can do is work hard, train hard.”

Garcia is unlikely to risk star midfielder Diego Castro, who has a muscle problem, in Saturday’s clash.

“Castro is travelling really well and he should be in the mix sooner rather than later,” he said.

“Western United might come too early, possibly Tuesday or the Sunday after that.”

Garcia said he was pleased with the attitude shown by players shown in the crushing win over Adelaide.

“All players have got hunger and determination, it’s about them finding that and making sure those behaviours are continually shown every game,” he said.

“It was very pleasing to see the guys work for each other.

“Playing as a team, their efforts together and the way they worked for each, other very, very pleasing.”

He was disappointed by two late goals with Glory cruising at 5-1 late in the game.

“Bit of concentration, bit of fatigue,” he said.

“It’s about those moments of fatigue that we go back to what we know in our structure.”
