NH Primary Source: Stepanek says COVID-19 pandemic devastated Trump’s reelection bid
'AMAZING' FOUR YEARS. NHGOP Chair Stephen Stepanek, one of Donald Trump’s earliest supporters in New Hampshire, is a strong believer in the now-former chief executive today, just as he was in 2015, when he hosted the first house party for the then private businessman-turned-politician. “It was a remarkable and exciting campaign in 2015 and 2016,” said Stepanek, who co-chaired Trump’s New Hampshire campaign in his first run. “When he became president, overall, he accomplished remarkable, amazing things, moreso than any president in my lifetime,” he said, “and I believe that if it hadn’t been for COVID, I’d probably be in Washington right now for his second inauguration.” Stepanek said he expects a sharp turn to the ideological left in Washington as Biden and the Democrats take control. “I’ll be watching what President Biden does or does not do,” he said. “It’s disappointing to see, already, a lot of the things that Donald Trump did for America, Joe Biden is trying t undo. “We’re already seeing massive caravans heading here and I’d expect out-of-control illegal immigration to start up and flood this country. During the pandemic, people forgot a lot of the things that Donald Trump did and they are now in for a rude awakening.” And the future? “Donald Trump loves New Hampshire, and I don’t see Joe Biden having any relationship with our state,” Stepanek said. “Only time will tell. I think that at this point, Trump is going to take some time to recharge and figure out what he wants to do next. And when he does, I’ll be there to support him.”>> Download the FREE WMUR app
