Donald William Graham

HANCOCK — Donald William Graham, aka, Homer, was born in Detroit on July 7, 1957, a son to Alton and Marilyn (Achan) Graham. In 1963, his family moved to Ontonagon, where he was raised and went to school, graduating in 1975 from Ontonagon High School.

He had numerous jobs including working at Fraki’s in Marquette, and worked at Isle Royale National Park where he met Barbara Anne Bauer in 1999, and they were married on August 18, 2006. They moved to Hancock in 2000.

Later on, Donald was well known in the community as a taxi driver at Neil’s taxi, as well as working for a couple companies after that and was very much liked and respected. In January 2020, he stopped driving for the taxi permanently.

Donald enjoyed driving around the back roads with his wife and dogs. He loved going to McLain State Park with the animals, having picnics and looking at the rocks on the beach. His biggest passion, after his two dogs, MoMo and Sherman; and two cats, Fluffy and Tigger was the casino. He loved going to the casino with his buddy, Robby.

Each summer he loved meeting up with his best friend, Dale Sorenson and family, and couldn’t wait to see them, and seeing his nephew, Joseph Bauer and Mellody Hutton. He enjoyed the company of his second family, the Maggios and Koskis.

Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara; brother, Robert (Linda) Graham; numerous nieces and nephews; and of course his beloved animals.

He was preceded in death of his father in 1971; and his beloved mother in 1995, whom he helped take care of and would talk about her cooking nonstop.
