Telangana CM announces 10% quota for Economically Weaker Sections

HYDERABAD: Two years after the Centre announced 10% reservations to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in the government educational institutions and recruitment, the Telangana government has decided to implement 10% quota in the state.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said a high-level meeting would be convened in the next 2-3 days on the issue and orders would be issued.
“There is a need to implement 10% reservation in jobs and educational institutions to those economically weaker classes.
We have decided to implement 10 percent reservations to the EWS while continuing the reservations to those who have already been enjoying the benefit as it is. As on date in the state is implementing 50% reservations to the weaker sections. With 10 percent reservations to the EWS, the reservation percentage will go up to 60%,” the CM said.
