GUWAHATI: The cumulative total number of vaccinated healthcare workers in Assam crossed 10,000 on the fourth day of the drive on Thursday.
With this, the number of beneficiaries to receive the shots in the state went up to 10,676 through 229 sessions, with only 15 cumulative total minor cases of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI), according to reports.
To date, no case of serious or severe AEFI has been reported from any of the session sites in the state.
“The fourth day of the countrywide Covid-19 vaccination programme was conducted successfully in Assam. A total of 3,091 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6pm on Thursday in Assam through 65 sessions,” National Health Mission, Assam, said in a statement.
Of 65 session sites active since morning, 57 administered Covishield to 2,799 beneficiaries, while eight administered Covaxin to 292 beneficiaries — all healthcare workers.
Two minor cases of AEFI were reported on Thursday — one from Lakhimpur and another from Barpeta.
“I took the vaccine in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, and after that, I have been continuing my regular duty at Kalapahar Hospital, without any problems. The vaccine has given me more reasons to smile and more enthusiasm to work for the Covid-affected people in Assam,” Dr Raktim Pratim Tamuli Phukan, additional superintendent at Kalapahar Covid Care Hospital, Guwahati, said.
Dr Ulupi Phukan, superintendent of Sonapur District Hospital, shared her vaccination experience, saying there had not been any serious AEFI observed since the vaccination drive started in the hospital on the city outskirts. “I can assure you that the Covid vaccine is safe. I have also taken the vaccine and I am not facing any difficulty,” she added.
