BERHAMPUR: An 18-year-old man of Gochha village, under Sorada police station in Ganjam district, who was presumed dead by his family after they failed to contact him for several days, was reunited with his elder brother in Chennai four days ago. Lochan Nayak, the youth, and his brother Ranjan, who works in the construction sector near Ernakulam in Kerala, are expected to return to the village soon.
Ranjan explained that Lochan, who worked in a hotel in Coimbatore, had returned to his village after the Centre announced a lockdown in March.
In December, he headed back to Chennai to look for work but lost his way. He had also forgotten to carry his cell phone with him.
Tamil Nadu Police found him on the streets of Padappal in Chennai on January 7 and sent him to a short-stay home run by an NGO, said an official of TN government.
With the help of an Odia boy there, the activists of the NGO came to know Lochan’s address and contacted Sorada Police.
