Purulia, Birbhum SPs shifted in Bengal rejig

Kolkata: Several Bengal officials, including SPs of Purulia and Birbhum, were transferred on Friday.
Birbhum SP Shyam Singh was posted as SP (traffic) in Durgapur. The new Birbhum SP will be Meeraj Khalid, who was earlier DC (central), Kolkata. Purulia SP S Selvamurugan was posted as special superintendent, CID. Biswajit Mahato will take his place.
Debi Prasad Karanam was appointed the excise commissioner and will hold additional charge as Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation MD and commissioner of commercial tax.Uma Shankar S will also hold charge as State Beverages Corporation MD.
Debal Kumar Ghosh was made special secretary, health, and Jyotirmoy Tanti will be CEO of Howrah Improvement Trust. Sunil Agarwal, a joint secretary in food department, will also hold charge as MD, NBSTC. Anukul Sarkar was posted as joint MD, WBTC.
On Wednesday, Roshni Sen, who heads mass education extension department, was given additional charge of women and child development department.
