Delhi: 266 new Covid-19 cases, seven fatalities in 24 hours

The capital recorded 266 fresh Covid-19 cases and seven deaths on Friday, while the positivity rate rose to 0.37% from 0.28% on Thursday. The tally stood at 6,33,542 and the death toll mounted to 10,789, the authorities said.

NEW DELHI: The capital recorded 266 fresh Covid-19 cases and seven deaths on Friday, while the positivity rate rose to 0.37% from 0.28% on Thursday. The tally stood at 6,33,542 and the death toll mounted to 10,789, the authorities said.
According to the latest bulletin issued by Delhi health department, 71,850 tests were conducted the previous day, of which 43,105 were done using RT-PCR and 28,475 through rapid antigen.
The tally of active cases in Delhi touched 2,060.
On Monday, the capital recorded 161 Covid cases — the lowest in nearly nine months, with a positivity rate of 0.32%. On April 26, the capital recorded 293 cases, according to official data.
Of the total 9,068 beds earmarked for Covid-19 patients across the city hospitals, the government said, 8,125 (90%) were vacant. “We still need to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour to ensure the positivity remains low and the chain of transmission is broken,” a senior official said.
The number of containment zones in Delhi stood at 1,629.
