HYDERABAD: Secunderabad Cantonment wing of the BJP urged ‘local military authority’ (LMA) to reopen a decades-old Hanuman temple at Lalbazar to continue daily rituals.
BJP workers led by state party executive committee member and former vice president, Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) J Rama Krishna visited the Hanuman temple and held a protest on Friday.
The LMA shut the Human temple located in Secunderabad Cantonment in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, but did not reopen it, despite ‘ministry of home affairs’ (MHA) issuing Covid-19 ‘standard operating procedure’ (SOP) to all the worships.

Recently, the Secunderabad Cantonment TRS MLA, G Sayanna also made a plea to the ‘President Cantonment Board’ (PCB), Secunderabad, Brigadier Abhijit Chandra, to reopen the Hanuman temple. “Recently, Guruvayur and Gurudwara also reopened in the military area, but the Hanuman temple, which closed since March 2020, is yet reopened,” MLA said in his representation.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP state executive committee member, J Rama Krishna, “all the daily rituals to Gods and Goddesses at the inside of the temple complex were halted for the past nearly 10 months. The military authorities have to reopen the temple on priority to continue daily rituals.”
