Direct flight connectivity between Agra and Lucknow to start soon
19 passengers arrived at Agra airport from Air India flight on Saturday.
LUCKNOW: Bringing in huge relief for Lucknow residents, soon airlines will kick start daily direct air connectivity between city of Taj, Agra and the state capital.
The air journey will take around 80 to 100 minutes depending upon the air traffic, but more importantly Agra bound flight will be of morning hours and the same day return journey before the sunset.

According to Agra airport authority, airlines like Zoom Air (India) and IndiGo will operate service between the two destinations and their aircraft base will be Lucknow.
IndiGo is expected to start direct flight from March 28, and they will operate 74 seater ATR 72 model, the twin-engine turboprop plane. The flight will depart at 9 am from Lucknow and will take one hour 45 minutes to reach Agra. Later on the same day, the flight will return to Lucknow at 4.10 pm after one hour 20 minutes journey.
According to skyscanner, the metasearch engine and travel agency owned by Chinese multinational Trip.com group, the direct two-way journey will cost as low as Rs 2,560.
Speaking to TOI, Agra airport director A A Ansari said, “The two-way journey on same day will be cheaper and faster than Agra-Lucknow expressway, which will be win-win situation for tourist as well as airlines operator. “
He said, “The connectivity between to cities was scheduled to start from January 12 by Zoom Air but due to some clearance issues from DGCA, the service has been delayed. Very soon they will start the service.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday, air service resumed at Agra civil terminal and 19 passengers arrived from Goa in AI 883 Air India flight.
The national carrier will operate once a week between Goa-Agra-Delhi. After landing at 11.20 am, the flight will head for Delhi at 12.20 pm with four passengers. It’s important to note that Air India has no future plans of a direct flight for return journey to Agra from Delhi or direct flight to Goa from Agra.
Airport director A A Ansari said, “Apart from Lucknow, Delhi and Goa service, the airport will also cater flight service for Bengaluru, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Indore as well and the service will continue till October month. “
According to authorities, IndiGo operates daily flights for four destinations including for Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Lucknow and Bengaluru, while Zoom is expected to operate four days in week for destinations like Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal and Indore.
SpiceJet too is expected to start air connectivity service from Agra airport.
Authorities claimed that IndiGo will use Air Bus 320 for Bengaluru and for other destinations ATR 72 model will be introduced. While Zoom will operate 50 seater plane and Air India will also Air Bus 320 for Goa-Agra-Delhi flight.
