Smart platform is a mechanism of staying relevant to the customers who are constantly demanding and changing their requirements and preferences, said an expert during a webinar.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) recently organised a webinar on ‘Rebuilding your business with customers & employees – the power of ‘Smart’ platforms in the new environment’. The speaker Rohan Jayaweera, Chief Marketing & Alliances Officer at John Keells IT- which is a boutique consulting cum professional services company, delivered presentation on the new paradigm, new customers, employees and defined smart platform.

His speech focused on e-commerce, cloud and web enablement.

The presentation shed light on features of smart platforms, how to build it, its blue print and what are the expectation of new customers and new employees. He explained why it is important for to build smart platforms and engage with new customers and employees.

“Immaterial of the industry and organisation, there will be ambition to know how the future looks like and how we make it relevant to the organisation based on the global industrial lifestyle trends,” he said.

E-commerce adoption is growing globally as more consumers expect delivery of products and services to be digital, seamless, and timely. Businesses are racing to compete and join the e-commerce trend. In Qatar, the e-commerce market is showing healthy growth over the coming years, especially in the services sector.

“For us paradigm shifts are when things change completely, for example Internet created a paradigm shift. We need to see how do we adjust and connect with technology which takes a lot of effort, time and planning to understand,” he added.

“Businesses will continue to demand technology solutions so that we can stay relevant in the lifestyle and industry that will enable us to catch the global trends and ultimately it boils down to technology solutions,” he added.

The customers are looking at something called omni-channel experience and superior personalization. Also there is a lot of engagements driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and humans becoming like secondary support.
