Finnish Huhtamaki invests in new manufacturing unit in Malaysia

Finnish Huhtamaki, a global food packaging specialist is investing EUR 10 million in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Malaysia, the company sates in a press release.

The new site is expected to be fully operational in June 2021 and with the investment the company is transferring its Malaysian manufacturing base from Penang to Port Klang, Selangor State, the capital region of Malaysia. The company states that by investing in a world-class facility in Malaysia it can better serve its customers and meet the demands of future growth of the Asian sector.

Eric Le Lay, President, Fiber Foodservice EAO of Huhtamaki explains that the company will use the relocation to upgrade their equipment and improve efficiency by increasing automation. The company plans to introduce new sustainable paper-based technologies and also expanding the product range at the new facility while keeping the initial focus on manufacturing paper cups.
