The image does not show an authentic Fox News chyron. A version of the image was originally tweeted by The Daily Show for satirical purposes.

The Facebook post, which was shared just hours after President Joe Biden took the presidential oath of office, seemingly shows a moment from a Fox News broadcast featuring host Sean Hannity. The bottom of the screen shows a chyron reading, “Joe Biden Has Been President For Nine Hours And 400,000 Americans Are Dead.” The chyron seems to be in reference to the over 400,000 Americans that have died from COVID-19.

There is no record of Fox News airing the purported chyron. The graphic does not appear in the video clip editing service Grabien’s database of Fox News coverage. The Daily Show, hosted by Trevor Noah on Comedy Central, tweeted the image on Jan. 20 with its logo in the upper-right corner, indicating the image was created for the show, likely as a joke. In the version being shared on Facebook, The Daily Show’s logo has been digitally removed.
