These include 65,326 children in rural and 8,723 in urban areas, deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said on Thursday. The health department has set up 657 vaccination booths in the district including 585 in rural areas and remaining 72 in urban areas to enable health workers administer the vaccine.

In addition, eight mobile teams will be deputed and 37 transit booths too will be opened to ensure that no child in the target age-group is deprived of this vaccine. A vaccination booth will be set up at each of the toll plazas in the district. The pulse polio drive will see 2,768 vaccinators in action under the supervision of 133 supervisors. All officials and staff of the department of health will be part of this programme, Jagadeesha said.
In addition, staff from other departments and voluntary organisations too will assist the health department in ensuring the success of the programme. DC urged all stakeholders to ensure that no child in the above age-group is left out of the drive, which will also be held on February 1 and 2 in rural areas and up to February 3 in urban areas through door to door survey to ensure 100% coverage of children in the target age-group.
