KANDELA (JIND): Soon after the authorities tried to remove farmers from Ghazipur border, a large number of farmers from several villages of Haryana came out in protest on Thursday night. Farmers from Kandela village in Jind district blocked Jind-Chandigarh highway at 10pm. The road blockage continued till late in the night.
The farmers alleged that the government was trying to suppress their agitation by using force in the night.
“Those were not just the tears of Rakesh Tikait, but the cry of every farmer of India,” said Ram Mehar Kandela, a khap member of Kandela Khap. He was referring to visuals in which Tikait had appeared weeping.
“Hundreds of farmers have already left for Delhi from villages of Jind district. We will hold a meeting of our khap on Friday morning to take a call regarding the next course of action. If the government tries to remove agitating farmers from dharna sites forcibly, it will invite sharp reactions from the farmers of Haryana. We will block all roads in Haryana,” added Kandela.
Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Surender Kandela joined the farmers’ agitation on Thursday night. JJP is alliance partner of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana. “I was with the JJP till today. But now I have decided to quit JJP in support of farmers’ agitation. JJP leader and deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala will face political downfall if he just cares for his kursi not the farmers,” said Kandela.
