MANDYA: Seven persons, including two children, sustained injuries after a leopard entered a village near Melukote in Mandya on Saturday.
Jayaramu, a farmer in P Hosahalli, was working on his field along with members of his family when the leopard sneaked into the farm. Many of those who were fleeing from the big cat tripped over stones. They are being treated at a hospital in Pandavapura.
The leopard was spotted at Tottilamadu, a popular tourist destination in the district.
Forest department officials visited the village and promised residents they’ll set up a cage to capture the animal. The foresters will also patrol the area regularly to prevent untoward incidents.
