Six die in road accident near Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri
The minivan rammed to rear part of the bus
KRISHNAGIRI: A pedestrian and five people travelling in a minivan died in a road accident near Kaveripattinam in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Monday.
Police said a TNSTC bus that was heading to Bengaluru from Salem stopped on the roadside near Kaveripattinam. A passenger got down from the bus and was crossing the road. A minivan that was heading to Bengaluru from Bhavani in Erode district hit him and rammed the rear part of the bus.
This happened while the minivan driver vainly tried to avoid hitting the bus passenger who crossed the road suddenly.
The deceased have been identified as Devaraj, 38, of Kaveripattinam, who was crossing the road, and five men travelling in the minivan -- Prashanth,28, Linga, 28, Surendar, 29, Sivakumar, 28, and the drive whose identity was not known.
Three others -- Gowtham, Bharani and Ashok -- sustained injuries. They were rushed to the government hospital in Krishnagiri.
The Kaveripattinam police registered a case.
