Bankura DM takes charge from IAS hubby

BANKURA: Bound together in love for life, their partnership extends beyond the warmth of home and into their busy bureaucratic workspace. IAS officers of 2011 batch and husband-wife duo S Arun Prasad and K Radhika Aiyar swapped offices in a routine government reshuffle on Wednesday.
Prasad handed over charge to Aiyar as Bankura district magistrate and will himself assume office as GST special commissioner, Durgapur, a post held by his wife till now.
In her first interaction with the media after taking charge as DM, Aiyar said her priority was to ensure peace in the district and reach out to people in need. She also held a meeting with senior Bankura officials on Day One.
The state government order, asking Prasad to take charge as GST special commissioner, was issued simultaneously as Aiyar was appointed Bankura DM. In addition, separate orders were issued making her the executive magistrate of the district as well as the district collector.
The IAS power couple has shared synchronous assignments in the past too. In March 2020, Prasad was made Bankura DM while Aiyar was appointed GST special commissioner in June the same year.
