Ramanathapuram police book three for possessing gelatin sticks

MADURAI: The Ramanathapuram district police on Monday seized 74 gelatin sticks and booked three men for possessing them.
The accused have been identified as S Ribaiyutheen, S Alaudeen, and S Sirajudeen. All hail from Thiruppalaikudi near Devipattinam.
The Thiruppalaikudi police on Sunday received information that a few villagers possessed gelatin sticks.
Following this, a team of officers conducted a search.The trio escaped on seeing police. However, they left a bag behind. The police recovered 74 gelatin sticks from the bag.
A case was registered against the trio under sections of the Indian Explosives Substances Act.
A police officer said the trio could have possessed the explosives to catch fish. A search is underway for the accused.
