Four killed, one injured in road accident on Etawah-Agra highway

KANPUR: Four members of a family died and one sustained injuries after the vehicle ferrying them overturned at Karampur on the Etawah-Agra highway on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were residents of Agra and have been identified as Raj Kumar Agarwal (53), his wife Bhavna (50), their daughter Deeksha (27) and their relative Mahaveer (51).
The accident took place when Rajit, Raj Kumar's son, lost control over their four-wheeler vehicle and rammed into a truck following which it overturned on the highway.The entire family was travelling to Kanpur to fix the marriage of Deeksha.
After being informed, senior police officials went to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The victims were taken to a hospital where the doctors declared four of the family members dead. Rajit, who sustained injuries, is undergoing treatment.
"We have launched a search operation to locate the whereabouts of the truck driver, who has been accused of applying sudden brakes leading to the mishap," said an inspector.
