Odisha: Overseer held for taking bribe in Ganjam

The vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested an overseer of horticulture at Buguda in Ganjam district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 26,000 from a person to submit the field inspection report of 13 farmers, including the complainant, to avail of government subsidy.

BERHAMPUR: The vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested an overseer of horticulture at Buguda in Ganjam district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 26,000 from a person to submit the field inspection report of 13 farmers, including the complainant, to avail of government subsidy.
“The accused has been identified as Uam Charan Behera. He was caught red-handed at the farmhouse of the complainant at Karchulli,” Berhampur SP (vigilance) Anil Kumar Patra said.
He added that cash, along with several other documents, were seized from his possession. After his arrest, his official chamber at Buguda and his residential house at Landei Sahim near Bhanjanagar were raided.
