KANPUR: Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan, who along with his supporters was on his way to meet a minor Unnao girl undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city, staged a sit-in at the Ganga Barrage after being stopped by the police on Monday evening.
Azad had taken the Unnao-Kanpur route via Ganga Barrage to reach the private Kakadeo hospital.
After police stopped his vehicle near the Ganga Barrage and told him they didn’t have permission to allow them any further, he and his supporters staged a sit-in dharna on the road, leading to a traffic chaos.

The Bhim Army chief demanded to shift the girl to AIIMS-New Delhi and a CBI probe in the case.
Addressing the media, Azad said, “When I saw the things are not going in the right direction, I decided to meet and inquire about the well-being of ‘my sister’.”
“The way administration deployed police to stop me, if they make such arrangements to stop criminals, I think crime will come to an end in UP,” Azad said.
SP (West) Anil Kumar said, “We don’t have permission from higher-ups in this regard. There are instructions to not make the hospital overcrowded.”

Three minor girls were found in an unconscious state in an agriculture field in Unnao’s Babuhara village under Asoha police station area by the locals on Wednesday night. They were rushed to hospital, where two of them were declared brought dead.
The 16-year-old girl was sent to a hospital in Unnao and later referred to a private hospital Kanpur where she is recuperating.
