Teen driver injured in one-vehicle crash in Grand Forks

Incident occurred shortly after noon on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

A teen driver suffered injuries in a one-vehicle crash in Grand Forks Wednesday, Feb. 24.

According to a release from the Grand Forks Police Department, officers responded shortly after noon on the 1500 block of Rider Road. A 2001 Jeep, operated by a 16-year-old driver whose name was not released, apparently was northbound on Rider Road, lost control and hit a tree. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle.

The police report said the driver was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by the Northeast Regional UAS team, GFPD CART team, Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru paramedics. The accident is still under investigation.
