Snooker legend John Higgins thumped England's Mark Selby 6-0 in a "perfect performance" to cruise into the Players Championship semi-finals in Milton Keynes this afternoon.

Selby barely registered a point during the defeat at the Marshall Arena.

The 'Wizard of Wishaw' gave Selby almost no chance in heavy frame victories, with his opponent scoring just seven points over the six frames.

Breaks of 60 in the first frame, then 70 and 63 in the second and third, respectively, led to Higgins blasting in 100 in the fifth frame to cruise to a 5-0 lead.

Higgins then conceded a single point to Selby, but another break of 60 led to him winning 114-1 to clinch the match in the sixth frame.

He said: "I can't play any better than that. That's as good as I can play.

"I couldn't believe Mark only scored seven points. I knew I was in control, but seven points! I can't believe I've done that to someone like Mark Selby.

"I don't think I've ever been as in control of any game in my career, especially against the calibre of player as I was playing.

"That's an unbelievable result, an unbelievable performance for myself - it was as close to perfect as I could ever play."

The four-time World Champion will now face Kyren Wilson on Saturday evening, with Barry Hawkins and Ronnie O'Sullivan clashing for the other final slot.
