Ann Arbor-based Genomenon, an artificial intelligence-driven genomics (a genome is an organism’s set of DNA) company, has entered into a collaboration with BC Platforms, a health care data management, analytics, and access company in Switzerland.

Genomenon organizes genomic knowledge to connect patient DNA to scientific research. This helps health care professionals diagnose and develop treatments for patients with rare genetic diseases and cancer.

BC Platforms provides a data and technology platform designed for personalized medicine. It has a presence in Finland, London, Boston, and Singapore.

The partnership is focused on two fronts. Genomenon’s Mastermind Genomic Search Engine will be integrated into BC Platforms’ genomic analysis and interpretation platform BC|Genome. On the research side, Mastermind will also be integrated into BC Platforms’ research platform BC|Insight to facilitate genomic research by simplifying genomic data annotations.

“We look forward to this collaboration and share BC Platforms’ commitment to deliver the most comprehensive source of genomic evidence to researchers and clinicians working on the frontiers of medical science,” says Mike Klein, CEO of Genomenon.

Genomenon’s Mastermind uses artificial intelligence-driven genomics to accelerate gene variant interpretation, providing access to millions of scientific articles. It identifies every genomic association supported by medical evidence, drawing connections between genes, variants, copy number variants, diseases, phenotypes, therapies, and keywords to inform clinical care and drug discovery.

BC|Genome is a genomics platform for clinical grade genomic data production, analysis, and interpretation. BC|Insight is a research data management solution for managing health care data, conducting studies as well as enabling research collaborations. Through its built-in patient data logic, ability to handle all data types and access management. The solution has been available for more than 20 years.

“We are delighted to be working with Genomenon and enhancing the value of its outstanding Mastermind Genomic Search Engine to health care and research collaborators,” says Tero Silvola, CEO of BC Platforms. “Mastermind is the only one of its kind, delivering insight into the full text of genomic literature in the blink of an eye.”
