Tamil Nadu assembly election: DMK starts interviewing aspirants for party ticket

CHENNAI: DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam was buzzing with activities on Tuesday as several aspirants for party tickets to contest in the Tamil Nadu assembly election – to be held on April 6 – assembled there to attend interview.
The party received 8,300 applications for 234 constituencies.
The party high command invited candidates from 16 party units in southern districts for the first day of the interview.
DMK president M K Stalin, general secretary S Durai Murugan and top brass of the party interviewed the candidates from Kanyakumari district, followed by candidates from Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Ramanathapuram districts.
Aspirants from Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Theni and Dindigul districts would be interviewed from 4 pm. More than 8,300 party cadres and functionaries submitted applications, seeking party ticket.
On March 3, the party will cover Madurai, the Nilgiris and Erode districts. Interviews for selecting candidates in Tirupur, Coimbatore, and Krishnagiri districts will be conducted in the second half of the day.
On March 4, aspirants from Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Salem, Pudukottai, Karur, Ariyalur, Perumbalur, Trichy and Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam (south) districts.
On March 5, interviews for Thanjavur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Kancheepuram districts will be held.
On the final day (March 6), aspirants from Tiruvallur, Chennai, Puducherry and Karaikal will appear for interview.
