Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to Australian music industry icon Michael Gudinski following his death.

Founder of the Mushroom Group and its concerts division Frontier Touring, Gudinski died on Monday at the age of 68.

Gudinski leaves behind his wife Sue, son Matt, who is Mushroom Group's executive director, and daughter Kate.

"My friend Michael Gudinski was first, last, and always a music man," Springsteen wrote on Twitter, adding that he has never met a better promoter during his fifty years of touring worldwide.

Springsteen described Gudinski as "loud, always in motion, intentionally (and unintentionally hilarious), and deeply soulful."

"He will be remembered by artists, including this one, from all over the world every time they step foot on Australian soil," the rock icon added.

Springsteen and Gudinski were friends and had toured together many times.

Kylie Minogue, who was signed to Mushroom Records, tweeted, "Legend. Legacy. LOVE. A Titan of the music industry."
