New State Campaign Launches To Fight Opioid Abuse

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has launched a new campaign to help those who are struggling with substance abuse during the pandemic. Spokesperson Lynn Sutfin tells WSJM News there will be ads to talk to people about opioids and naloxone.

“We have billboards, we have social media posts, we are definitely trying to do this to feature real life stories from people across Michigan who are sharing their experiences,” Sutfin said.

Sutfin says the “change at your own pace” campaign will educate people on the importance of naloxone. It’s a nasal spray that can save lives by reversing the effects of opioid-related drug poisonings or overdoses. The ads encourage Michiganders to “change at their own pace” so those who need help can keep themselves as safe as possible until they are ready to seek help.
