No problems for No. 5 Iowa in Nebraska rout

By News Mar 4, 2021 | 10:29 PM

From one of the best games of the season, to one of the worst for Nebrasketball.

“If you don’t play well, they can embarrass you,” Nebraska (7-18, 3-15 Big Ten) coach Fred Hoiberg said.

And embarrass the Huskers is exactly what No. 5 Iowa (19-7, 13-6 Big Ten) did in the 102-64 rout.

The Hawkeyes shot 51.4 percent for the game, including making 16 3s. The paint was dominated by the home team, where Iowa held a 40-18 advantage, thanks in large part to Luka Garza who scored 14 points on one end, and patrolled the other end to the tune of four blocked shots.

It wasn’t just inside that gave the Huskers trouble, as Jordan Bohannon got loose from deep to sink eight 3s as part of his game-high 26 points.

Nebraska shot just 33.8 percent for the game, led by Kobe Webster’s 17 points. Lat Mayan posted his first career double-double with 14 points and career-high 13 rebounds.

Nebraska falls to 0-9 this season against ranked teams, including 0-5 against top-10 teams.

The Huskers wrap up the regular season Sunday at Northwestern.
