Telangana IT and municipal minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao said the state government could not come to the rescue of 12 lakh teachers working in the various private educational institutions during lockdown due to financial constraints. “It is not that we ignored them. Since they are in huge numbers and financial problems during lockdown, the state government could not help them financially,” the TRS working president said during an interaction programme at a college in Secunderabad said. The situation in Bhainsa town in Telangana rocked by communal violence was peaceful on Tuesday while prohibitory orders and suspension of internet services continued to be in force, Police said. There was no problem in supply of essentials, including water and milk, and suspension of internet could be lifted by Tuesday night, a police official said.

In freak accident, AP cop falls from building and dies trying to chase away a lizard

In a freak accident, a circle inspector attached to Guntur police department died when he fell off a staircase while trying to scare away a lizard at a residence in Guntur city on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sesha Rao, currently awaiting posting in vacancy reserve. According to police, the incident happened at around 7.30 pm.

Hyderabad: Life for man who raped girl in 2012

A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life for raping a neighbour, who was 12 years old, in 2012 at Kacheguda. The accused raped the girl when she went to his house to watch TV. After the trial, on Monday, B Srinivasa Rao, Judge for XI Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, Nampally, convicted the accused and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment and pay Rs 50,000 fine.

Baby girl dumped in garbage bin in Telangana, rescued

On a day that celebrates women, a newborn girl was found dumped in a garbage bin in Mahabubabad district’s Dornakal mandal. She was rescued by labourers of Burgampad heading to work who heard her cries and alerted cops. The baby, wrapped in a cloth, was taken to the house of one of the labourer’s living nearby. They took care of the infant until police arrived.

Businessman fires at wife, son in Hyderabad; arrested

A businessman allegedly made an attempt to kill his wife and son by opening fire on them with his revolver at Kalapathar on Monday. Police said the accused, Syed Habeeb Hashmi, whipped out his licensed revolver and fired at his wife Tahera Begum and son Omar. Though he shot three rounds of bullets, the mother-son duo escaped unhurt. The accused was taken into custody by Kalapathar police and booked under the Arms Act and IPC section of attempt to murder.
