Deoria man arrested for rape after 13-yr-old neighbour gives birth

Gorakhpur: A 23-year-old man was arrested in Deoria on Monday evening on the charges of raping a 13-year-old girl, who gave birth to a baby girl at private hospital recently. Police had registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation against the accused on the complaint filed by the girl’s mother.
As per reports, the accused, Rohit Nishad, son of Rajkumar Nishad of Rudrapur police station area, allegedly raped the girl in his neighbourhood when she was alone some eight months ago.The girl didn’t tell her family about the incident as the accused gave her a life threat. On February 28, when the girl went into labour, she told her family about the rape. The family members took her to private hospital where she delivered a girl child after two days. The newborn died on the same day.
The girl’s mother informed the police about the incident of Sunday evening, following which the police arrested the accused on Monday evening on the charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
“Rudrapur police in Deoria registered a case under sections of rape and criminal intimidation against the accused and sent him jail. The girl’s mother informed police on Sunday evening and the accused was arrested on Monday,” said SP Deoria Sripati Mishra.
