VARANASI: A village development officer (VDO) was killed while his brother suffered grave injuries in the Tulsipur area under the limits of Kotwali police station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district.
Vijay Yadav (26), the deceased, and his brother Som Yadav were attacked by the owner and staff of a 'dhaba' (roadside restaurant) following a brawl.
The condition of Som is stable now.

A native of Gora Bazar in Ghazipur, Vijay was posted as VDO in Dobhi block of Jaunpur district.
Four people — the owner, manager and two other staffers — were taken under custody for interrogation.
Ghazipur superintendent of police OP Singh said, “Vijay and Som were attacked with bottles of soft drinks and iron rods by the dhaba owner and his staff following a brawl between them on Wednesday late night."
After suffering head injuries, they were rushed to the trauma centre of Banaras Hindu University (in Varanasi) where Vijay succumbed to injuries in the wee hours on Thursday, he added.

On the complaint of Vijay’s family, an FIR was registered against the dhaba owner, manager, other staffers and six unidentified persons.
Police said that Vijay, along with Som and three other friends, had gone to Kalika Dhaba in Tulsipur area for dinner, Wednesday being the birthday of Vijay, son of retired nayab tehsildar Mahendra Yadav.
After dinner, a brawl erupted with the dhaba manager and the staffers, which led to a clash.
