PATNA: Five members of a family were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Supaul district on Saturday. Police prima facie suspected it to be a case of mass suicide.
Surprisingly, all the victims were wearing new clothes. An FSL team from Bhagalpur visited the spot and collected samples. The victims were reported to be under duress due to poor economic condition.
The incident took place in ward number 12 of Gaddi village under Raghopur police station.
It came to light when some neighbours noticed foul smell emnating from the house of Misri Lal Sah.
They immediately informed the local mukhiya Md Tasleem, who reported the matter to the police. Supaul SP Manoj Kumar along with other police officers later visited the site of occurrence.
SP Manoj Kumar said that the victim were identified as Misri Lal Sah (52), his wife Renu Devi (44) and their three minor children--Raushan Kumari (15), Lallan Kumar (14) and Phul Kumari (8).
Sah was last seen on Monday when he had visited the local PDS shop for the ration. "Sah didn't like to mingle with people after his eldest daughter Nitu Kumari eloped from the house and later married," he said.
Moreover, Sah was under depression due to poor economic condition of the family. He had already sold 10 out of 15 cottah of land, which he had got as his share after family's partisan.

The SP said that the family kept aloof and had detached itself from the other residents of the village. Even his three elder brothers didn't visit him for the former's attitude, he revealed.
The mukhiya Tasleem said that Sah was upset over family's economic condition. He had sold out major portion of his ancestral property as there was no other source of income, he added.
The local sarpanch Yuvaraj Mandal said that Sah was under mental duress. He didn't allow his children to go outside. "People had not seen any of his three children for the last several months," he said.
Meanwhile, the SP said that the visceral has been preserved. "We are waiting for the post mortem report. The autopsy report will throw more light on the incident," he added.
