PATNA: Police recovered body of a 20-year-old girl with burned face thrown on roadside near a ring dam on Kamla Balan river under Bhairavsthan police station area in Madhubani on Friday morning.
Bhairavsthan police station SHO Rupak Kumar Ambuj said that the police suspects that the girl was killed after being raped.
“The body’s identity could not be ascertained yet as her face was completely burned.
The body had a salwar-suit on it,” he said.
He said the body has been sent for post-mortem from which it would become clear how she was killed and if she was raped or not before being murdered.
“It seems that the killing took place somewhere else. Body was dumped at the spot after which the face was burned using some inflammable liquid,” he said.
Ambuj said that all neighbouring police stations were alerted about the body.
“Nobody has yet replied if any girl’s missing report has lodged or not,” he said.
SHO Ambuj said that the spot where the body has been recovered is a secluded one.
“Hardly anyone commuted from that road except few neighbouring villagers,” he said.
He said that it was the villagers who informed about the girl’s body lying roadside to the police.
SHO said that an investigation is going on to track those who had reached at the spot and dumped the body.
“Efforts are on to ascertain the girl’s identity too. Body will be kept preserved for at least 72 hours. Police expect to get some input after information about the murder spreads to different areas via newspapers and other medias,” he said.
