Gaya toddler drowns in bucket of water

GAYA: An 18-month-old boy Satyam was drowned when he fell into a bucket filled with water. The incident took place at Bohiya village under the Alipur police station area in Tekari sub-division of the district on Thursday.
According to Sanjay Manjhi, father of the deceased child, he was playing near the house and as the kid had not learnt to walk and used to crawl in and around the house.Although no one saw when he fell into the bucket, it is assumed that he tried to stand on his feet by holding the bucket and lost his balance. As his head remained submerged into the water for a long time, the child died due to suffocation.
A little girl playing nearby saw Satyam in the bucket. When the girl raised an alarm, other family members immediately took out the boy from the bucket. He was rushed to a private clinic in Tekari in an unconscious state. But the medical practitioner declared him brought dead.
