TMC loyalist’s death sparks Jhargram blame game
Midnapore: The mysterious death of a Trinamool Congress supporter prompted the party to rally in protest on Monday at Aguibani village in Jhargram. Durga Soren, 55, was found unconscious near a pond, not far from his house, and declared brought dead in hospital. The incident sparked tension and led to a complaints war. Police have arrested two supporters each of BJP and Trinamool in connection with the case.

Trinamool’s Aguibani area president Jagadish Mahato said: “Durga was taking his wife to hospital when some BJP supporters hurled abuses at him. On his way home, he protested and a scuffle broke out. Police came to disperse the mob. Since then Durga was untraceable. After a long search, he was found senseless near a pond. He was declared brought dead at hospital. BJP supporters killed him.”
BJP Jhargram district president Tufan Mahato said: “The death of Durga Soren is indeed sad, but the BJP neither threatened nor attacked anybody.”
