MUZAFFARGARH: The Excise Department seized as many as 190 vehicles running without number plates during a general hold up conducted here on Wednesday. District Excise and Taxation Officer Ghulam Qasim said that the operation was carried out under supervision of excise inspectors namely Matloob Ali and Muzammil Ismail from March 23 and would continue on daily basis in future. The general hold up was made at Alipur, Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh tehsils. Later, talking to media persons, Ghulam Qasim said that they had caught about 40 motorbikes, four tractor-trolleys and as many number of cars from different locations. He said vehicles running without numbers’’ identification used to be used for negative purposes and activities. Man killed in accident: A man was killed after his car hit a truck on Mianwali Road near Chowk Sarwar Shaheed. Rescuers said the accident occurred when a car overtaking a truck dashed into it. Rescuers recovered body of the driver by cutting off parts of the destroyed car. The body was shifted to THQ hospital Chowk Sarwar Shaheed for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Fahad (30), son of Muhammad Sadiq, a resident of Chowk Sarwar Shaheed.
